Meet Beth Blakey, Executive Director & COO (Interim) for Cancer Hope Network and self-declared book nerd and avid runner. Beth’s favorite childhood toy was whatever book she was reading at the time, and she always dreamed of being a writer. This passion for writing and love of literature followed her into adulthood and has helped to shape her career path.

Beth graduated with high honors from Rutgers University/Livingston College with a degree in English and a minor in Communications. She also holds her integrative nutrition health coaching certification from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She began her career in the PR industry, and although her job in PR was exciting, she soon realized there was something missing from her work life. She found that missing piece when she discovered the world of nonprofits.

Beth quickly found that her writing skills were ideally suited for a career in fundraising and put those skills to work for a variety of nonprofits including Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the Rutgers University Foundation, and the Mayo Theatre. She also ran her own nonprofit and corporate communications consulting business for 13 years before finding her place at Cancer Hope Network.

Beth is responsible for Cancer Hope Network’s fundraising efforts including grant writing and soliciting gifts from individuals, as well as assisting with strategic planning and board development. Her time here started with a promise to do something meaningful after her mom’s battle with cancer, but has transformed into spending every day making a difference in the lives of others.because of you gift
