It’s not hype: Cancer Hope Network’s nearly 500 amazing Support Volunteers are incredible people with incredible stories. Last week, we trained an exceptional group of new volunteers – including some with rare diagnoses as well as with one-in-a-million cancer discovery stories.
One of our new mentors was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, so uncommon that the hospital most expert in her diagnosis was several states away. She enrolled in a clinical trial that saved her life. Another new volunteer suffers from osteoporosis which, in a twist of fate, led to the discovery of her cancer while preparing for a regularly scheduled infusion. We also have a Support Volunteer whose diagnosis came as a shock because there were no symptoms leading up to the discovery. Close to our hearts, we had the honor of accepting a new mentor who came to us after the passing of a loved one – longtime CHN Support Volunteer Bill W.
