When I was diagnosed with stage 1A endometrial cancer in January 2022, just a day after my father passed away, I had no idea how life-changing the road ahead would be. In February 2022, I underwent robotic surgery for a full hysterectomy. This was followed by six cycles of chemotherapy with Taxol and Carboplatin, and a series of brachytherapy (vaginal radiation) treatments.
While I was fortunate to have the support of family and friends, I craved connection with someone who truly understood what I was going through. That’s when I reached out to Cancer Hope Network. Two mentors reached out to me, one who had survived the same cancer for 20 years and another who had remained cancer-free from ovarian cancer for 17 years. Their support was deeply reassuring.
Now, in 2024, I’m over two years cancer-free and proud to be a Cancer Hope Network mentor myself. I currently support five incredible women navigating their own cancer journeys. Sometimes, hearing their stories brings back tough memories, but offering empathy and sharing my experience makes it all worthwhile.
