Part of the Overlook Community since day one
More than 40 years ago, an Overlook oncology nurse gathered healthcare professionals, community volunteers and founded Cancer Hope Network. (Then known as CHEMOcare).
Since then, the organization has grown to serve cancer patients and caregivers across the nation – but our focus on our New Jersey roots is strong. Our commitment to ensuring that no one faces cancer alone is unshakeable.
Free & Confidential Peer Support
Peer support matches are provided by trained mentor volunteers who talk with a patient or caregiver who faced a similar experience. Free and confidential matches may be based on shared diagnosis, treatment, consideration of a clinical trial or other lifestyle factors. Matches are supported by a team of healthcare and social work professionals who provide additional guidance and resources.
Being matched with a Support Volunteer can help reduce fear and provide hope around cancer diagnosis, treatment, clinical trials and survivorship.
Paying it Forward by Becoming a Volunteer
Survivors and caregivers are invited to serve as Support Volunteers. Volunteer mentors are provided extensive training and ongoing support. After training, they are matched with patients and caregivers who are facing cancer. Serving as a volunteer is an opportunity to “pay forward” the good fortune of survivorship by helping clients facing one of life’s toughest challenges.
